It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and best friend. Da passed away Friday, Jan. 14, 2011, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital at the age of 69 with his loving family by his side.
The son of the late William and Margaret (McNeil) Metcalfe, he was born in Glace Bay, Nov. 13, 1941, and moved to Reserve upon his marriage, where he resided for the last 50 years and was a member of St. Joseph's parish.
Sheldon was employed for 35 years with Devco retiring as shift manager. Upon retiring Da was able to enjoy many activities, among his favourites were gardening, walking and talking to his many friends along the way. Our Dad was a loving, caring, hardworking man and wonderful provider. He loved sports, country music, spending time with his precious grandchildren, his cat Baboo and the neighbour's dog Ginger who kept him company on his daily walks.
Da will be sadly missed by his wife, the former Charlotte Oliver; their seven children, Darrin (Darlene), Aaron (Rhonda), Charlene (Angus) MacNeil, Jerene (Byron Donohue), Johna, Dorrell (Trena), Felicia (David) Cowan. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren, Ashton and Angelia Metcalfe, Ryan and Shara Metcalfe and Christopher Pye, Parker, Nathan and Jarret MacNeil, Erica and Kaitlynn Metcalfe, Justin Metcalfe and Jenessa Peters, Robyn and Luke Metcalfe and Adriana Cowan. Also left to mourn his passing are sisters, Dorothy McPhee and Patsy Mills, sister-in-law, Sister Magdalen Oliver, daughters-in-law, Wanda and Diana and son-in law, Don Peters.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Russell and sister, Marion McLeod.

Daniel Boudreau is Wednesday at 2 p.m. in St. Joseph's Church, Reserve Mines, followed by interment in the parish cemetery. A reception will be held in the parish hall, directly below the church.
For those who wish, donations may be made to St. Joseph's Cemetery Fund.
Online condolences to the family can be expressed at www.vjmcgillivray.ca.
To those I love
The only thing between us,
Whether we are big or small;
Is a tiny little heart beat,
Just a heartbeat - that is all;
So when you're sad and lonely
And my death seems so unfair,
You will always hear me whisper,
"Touch your heart,
You'll find me there."
