PATTEN, Robert Ardwell - 91, of Tidal View Manor in Yarmouth, formerly of Tusket, Yarmouth Co., passed away in Yarmouth Regional Hospital on January 9, 2011. Born January 5, 1920, in Wellington, Yarmouth Co., he was a son of the late Fred and Myrtle (Shaw) Patten. Robert was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved the outdoors. He worked as an autobody mechanic for a number of years. He is survived by wife, Pauline (Nickerson) Patten; daughter, Louise (Lloyd) Emin, Tusket, Yarmouth Co.; sons, Charles (Emmelene) Brooklyn, Yarmouth Co.; Malcolm (Joan), Tusket, Yarmouth Co.; Sandy (Claire), Moncton; brother, Harold, Vancouver; half-brother, Thomas, Sandford, Yarmouth Co.; half-sister, Doris Bishara, Sandbeach, Yarmouth Co.; 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by stepmother, Erma MacDonald; brother, Lyman, George and Frank; grandson, Robert Randolphe "Randy" Patten; granddaughter, Terrilynn Patten. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Sweeny's Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Yarmouth. The family accepted visitors on Tuesday, January 11 from 2-3 p.m. at Sweeny's Funeral Home. A reception followed at Tidal View Manor, Yarmouth. A graveside service will take place at a later date in Tusket Cemetery. It has been requested there be no flowers, please.
