Vance Hitchcock
Vance James Josephe Hitchcock, 59, of Moncton, passed away peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Sunday January 16, 2011. Born in Grand Falls, he was the son of the late Gordon and Clara (Roach) Hitchcock. Vance was the Chief of Engineering with Correctional Service Canada (Dorchester Penitentiary), with more than 22 years of service and attended St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church. He enjoyed photography, Spydering, curling, watching golf and spending precious time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Vance will be sadly missed by his three loving daughters, Jill Murray (Tim) of Moncton, Carrie Williams (Scott) of Riverview and Krystal Hitchcock of Moncton; his dearest and true friend, Gloria Carroll; three precious grandchildren, Dylan, Teagan and Tahlia; sisters, Marlene Guay (Antoine), Hull, PQ, Jeanie Guay (Alphonse), Drummond, Betty Stewart (Everett), Miramichi, Brenda McMenamon (Michael) (Rothesay); brother, Louis Hitchcock (Helene), Grand Falls; several nieces, nephews and extended family members and his two cats - "his boys" - Sir Edmond Scooter and Alfie. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Barbara and his brother, Brian.
Visitation at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral Mass at St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church on Thursday, January 20 2011 at 11:00 am, Rev. Yvon Arsenault officiating. Reception in the Church Hall following the Mass. Interment, Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Dieppe. In Vance's memory, donations to the NB Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
