Richard Whiting
Richard A. Whiting, 100, of Colonial Heights, VA passed away on January 11, 2011. He was a native of Oradell, NJ and the son of the late Richard A. and Mabel Brown Whiting. In 1935 he married Doris McLaughlin of Kingsclear and they lived briefly in Oradell, NJ before moving to Fredericton in 1940 where he owned the Whiting Photo Service on Queen Street. In 1950 he moved his family to Petersburg, VA. He was preceded in death by a grandson, David Todd Whiting. He is survived by his wife of 75 years, Doris Whiting; sons, Robert Whiting (Anita), David Whiting (JoAnne), daughter, Nancy Crawford (Robert) all of Virginia; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Jean Kitchen (Reginald), brother-in-law, John Gay; all of Fredericton; special cousins in Lower Queensbury, Bernice Brown, Mary Everett, Velma Murch; and many nieces and nephews.
He and Doris spent many summers in Lower Queensbury in the log cabin that he built in 1933 as a vacation home for his mother. A memorial service was held on January 16, 2011, in Petersburg, VA. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com.
