1949 - 2011 - Shirley Shanahan of Riverview, passed away at her residence on Monday, January 17, 2011 with her loving family by her side, following a courageous battle against cancer. Shirley was formerly employed by Sobeys, with over 25 years of service and was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. She enjoyed spending time with her cherished grandchildren and summer fun with family and friends at the trailer in Shediac. She is survived by her husband Bill, daughter, Shelly Knickle (David) of Riverview, son, Rheal (Stacey) of Lakeburn, grandchildren; Meghan and Andrew Knickle, brothers; David Tower (Janet), Fred Tower (Linda) both of Port Elgin, half-sisters; Judy Reid of NFLD, Brenda Jones (Robert) of Pt. DeBute, Maxine Johnson of Port Elgin, Darlene MacKay (Ralph Atkinson) of Port Elgin, half-brothers; Wayne MacKay (Kathy) of Moncton, Richard MacKay (Janice) of Calgary, Danny MacKay of Vancouver, Ralph MacKay (Tina) of Riverview. She was predeceased by her mother Geraldine Mae MacKay (Tower).
Honoring Shirley's request there will be no public visitation. The funeral service will be held at Cobb's Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Rd., Riverview, (869-2007), on Thursday, January 20, at 1:00 pm, with Father Phil Mulligan presiding. Interment to take place at Fair Haven Cemetery at a later date. Donations made to The Friends of the Moncton Hospital, Extra-Mural Driscoll Unit or the Oncology Dept. of the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
