Passed away at the Palliative Care Unit, Dr. L.A. Miller Center on Monday, January 17, 2011, at the age of 63 years. Former Firefighter with St. John's Regional Fire Department. Left to mourn his loving wife Doris; daughter Petula Gillingham (Mike); step-daughter Cindy Newell (Rudy); step-son Christopher Hunt (Piper); grandchildren: Tyler, Jesa-Lita, Paige, Dominic and Jeremy; sisters: Gladys Woodland (Harry), Annie Wiseman (Fred - deceased), Mabel Bartlett (Bill); brothers: Edgar (Joyce), Jack (Edna), Maurice (Jessie); mother-in-law Hilda Carberry (fondly referred to as "The Mrs."); sisters-in-law: Carol Evans and Trudy Gillard (Randy Power); brothers-in-law: Leonard Carberry (Barb Hillier) and Bill Carberry, as well as a large circle of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at the Palliative Care Unit, Dr. L.A. Miller Center. Resting at Barrett's Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue with visitation for family and friends on Wednesday, January 19 from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. and on Thursday, January 20 from 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Cremation will follow. Funeral service will be held from Barrett's Chapel on Friday, January 21 at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Anglican Cemetery, Kenmount Road.
