Fernande Ingraham
The death of Fern (Des Rosiers) Ingraham, wife of the late Thomas (Ottie) Ingraham of Fredericton, NB, occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, January 19th, 2011. Born January 12th, 1914 in Montreal, QC, she was brought up in Shawinigan, QC and was the daughter of the late Rosario and Etiennette Des Rosiers. She is survived by her son, Jim Ingraham (Nicole) of Fredericton; one granddaughter, Danielle MacDonald (Geoff) of Upper Kingsclear; one great-grandson, Kieran MacDonald; two brothers, Dr.Gerard Des Rosiers of Trois Rivieres, QC and Claude Des Rosiers of Montreal, QC and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Ottie; her parents; her brothers, Marcel Des Rosiers, André Des Rosiers and her sister Jeanette Chamberland. Throughout her life she led an active lifestyle. In her younger days she was an avid skier, skater and swimmer. During the war she worked as a driver for the military. In her senior years she was involved in synchronized swimming through the YMCA as well as a member of the Silver Dolphins. In addition she was a volunteer exercise instructor for seniors with both the Red Cross and the City of Fredericton. Until recently she could often be seen walking the river trails and the walking bridge with her friend.
There will be no visitation by request. A memorial service will take place at McAdam's Funeral Home on Saturday, January 22nd, 2011 at 2 pm with The Very Rev'd Keith Joyce officiating. Interment will take place at a later date in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Saint John.
