Mrs. Mary Belle Tracey, 83, passed away peacefully Thursday, Jan. 20, 2011, at the Glace Bay Hospital, after a brief illness. At the time of her passing, she was surrounded by her loving family.
Mary Belle was the daughter of the late John Anthony and Julia (MacInnis) Steele.
She was a member of St. John's Church, Glace Bay.
Mary Belle loved going for drives, camping and playing bingo. She was also blessed with a wonderful sense of humour.
She is survived by her seven children, Elizabeth (Frank) Piercey, Marion Bridge, Diane (Roy) MacNeil, Glace Bay, Barbara (Pat) Nearing, MacKenzie, British Columbia, Brian (Amelia) Tracey, Angus (Ann) Tracey, both in Glace Bay, John (Lorena) Tracey, St. Peters, and Joyce Tracey, Barrie, Ont. Mary Belle was a grandma to 30 grandchildren and well as a great-grandma. She will be greatly missed by all, especially, her best bingo buddy and sister-in-law, Mary Steele as well as nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Tracey, daughters, Julia (Hogan) Tracey, Mary Blanche Tracey, Annastatia and a son, Fredrick Joseph Tracey. Mary Belle was also predeceased by two brothers, John Anthony and Angus Joseph Steele.
Visitation will be held Sunday, Jan. 23 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. The funeral mass, officiated by Rev. Leo Boone is Monday at 11 a.m. in St. John's Church followed by interment in the parish cemetery. All are welcome to join the family for a reception in the church hall.
