The death of Velma Jennie Barry, loving wife of the late John "Buster" Barry, occurred on Saturday, January 22, 2011 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born 1929 in Milton, PEI, she was the daughter of the late John and Irene Ford. She is survived by her children John "Jack"(Joan) Barry of Quispamsis, Gail (Phil) Richard of Saint John and Cindy Barry of BC; brother Elwood Ford and sisters Muriel (Alvin) Johnston and Jessie Lewis all of Charlottetown, PEI; grandchildren Shane Richard (Donna) of Edmonton, AB, Jennifer Scribner (David), Jocelyn Barry (Jay Perry) and Matt Richard (Vanessa Galbraith); best "GG" to her great-grandson Hunter Scribner. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband John in 1997, her brother Orwell Ford, her sister Connie Birt and sister-in-law Kathy Ford. Mom "Nan" we are going to miss you like crazy. The family would like to say a special thank you to Dr. Les Allaby, the staff of Palliative Care and the Extra Mural Program especially Lorraine, Carol and Rob for the kindness and care shown to Velma.
At Velma's request there will be no visitation or funeral service. Interment will be held in North Winsloe United Church Cemetery, PEI on Thursday, January 27, 2011 at 2 p.m. Donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Lung Association. www.fundyfuneralhome.com
