It is with great sadness that the family of the late James (Jim) Fisher announce his passing on Saturday, January 22nd, 2011 at Western Memorial Regional Hospital at the age of 76 years. He was tired and wanted to go to his eternal rest to enjoy peace, no more pain and suffering. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife of 53 years Lillian (Lil) (Nee Curtis); daughters; Ida May Taylor (Wayne), Barbara Girardin (Laurent), sons; Bruce (Bernice); Gary (Elizabeth), Paul, Jimmy (Kim), Glenn (Sheri), 13 precious grandchildren; Mark & Matthew Taylor, Stéphane (Gillian), Dominique & Erika Girardin, Sasha & Erik Fisher, Sabrina & Katie Fisher, Angela Fisher and Justin Power (Dianna), Evan & Emily Fisher, sister; Renee Hicks (John) of Scarborough, ON, brother; Arthur (Joan) Fisher, sisters-in-law; Elizabeth Fisher of Toronto, ON, Maisie (Raymond) Hawkins of Embree, Margaret (Gerald) Wall of Bay L'argent, Maude Curtis of Virgin Arm, brothers-in-law; Freeman Curtis of Hatchets Cove, Albert (Judy) Curtis of London, ON, Alonzo (Michelle) Curtis of Calgary, David (Dorothy) Curtis of Virgin Arm, his aunt; Maude Romaine of Romaine's Brook as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives, neighbors, and many friends. He will be greatly missed by his canine companion Suzie. He is predeceased by his infant son William, brother; Walter, parents; William & Josephine (Romaine) Fisher, parents-in-law; Hubert & Minnie (Burt) Curtis, sister-in-law; Loretta Curtis and brother-in-law; Lester Curtis. Visitation will take place at Country Haven Funeral Home, 167 Country Road on Tuesday & Wednesday, January 25th & 26th, 2011 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at First United Church, Park Street on Thursday, January 27th, 2011 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Myles Vardy officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy flowers are graciously accepted or memorial donations may be made to the First United Church Restoration Fund or the Canadian Mental Health Association- Newfoundland & Labrador Division. When facing death's shadow,
remember the Light;
The shadows bring fear,
and the dark shrouds our eyes;
But if we will turn
to face Jesus the Light,
The shadow will fade as
He brightens our skies.
