Catherine B. Chase, age 81, of Sackville, passed away peacefully at the Sackville Memorial Hospital on Sunday, January 23, 2011. Born in Sackville, she was a daughter of the late Percy and Jeanette (MacKinnon) Chase. Catherine was a lifelong member of the Salvation Army and in later years was an adherent to the Salem Baptist Church. Her commitment and service to the Salvation Army was extensive in many areas of the church. She loved to focus on the children, and led Sunday School and other Young People's groups including organizing many church concerts. During her years in Saint John she also acted as a Girl Guide Leader. She will be dearly missed by her sister Margaret Murray, Sackville and several cousins.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville, NB (506-364-1300) where visiting hours will take place Wednesday from 12:30 until the time of the funeral. The funeral will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at 2 pm, Pastor Morris Mills officiating. Burial will take place in the Sackville Cemetery in the spring.
