SALEM – It is with great sadness, the family announces the passing of Bernice Mary Sitarski (nee Macon) in her 94th year, peacefully at the Aberdeen Hospital, on July 4, 2009, with family at her side.
Born in Brampton, Ontario, January 6, 1916, where she resided until she married her husband Stephen, June 30, 1940. They moved to the Niagara Peninsula in the 40's where they resided until 2006 when they moved to Pictou County on Bernice’s 90th birthday. She was a member of the C.W.L. for 71 years.
She will be lovingly missed by her husband Stephen; children, Helen Salter (Glynn), Salem, Pictou County; Christine Bullock (Wayne), Grimsby, Ont.; Ed Johnson (Trudi), NOTL, Ont.; Mary Sitarski, Ottawa, Ont.; six grandchildren, Lorianne Tonellato, Dwayne Johnson, Cheryl Johnson, Stephen Stecyk, Wade Salter, and Amanda (Cox); and six great-grandchildren, Catherine Redmond, Alexandra Tonellato, Matthew Tonellato, Spencer Cameron, Graceanna Stecyk, and Hartleigh Stecyk.
Bernice was the last surviving member of her immediate Macon family, excepting sister-in-law Kaye Macon, Brampton., Ont., and was also predeceased by an infant son, Stephen.
Visitations will be held on Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. Her funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday from the Church of the Holy Name, Westville. Burial will be in Seaview Cemetery. The Holy Name C.W.L. will recite prayers 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Donations can be made to Valley View Villa; the Alzheimer Society; the Arthritis Society; or the Holy Name Parish.
