Ronald Joseph Wadden, 60, of Charlie Lake, B.C., passed away tragically on Sunday, Jan. 16, 2011, as the result of a motor vehicle accident on the Alaskan Highway.
Born in Glace Bay, and a former resident of King Edward Street, he was the son of Carmella (McKinnon) Wadden and the late Leonard Wadden.
Joe worked in the oil and gas industry and later formed his own sandblasting and painting company. He was well liked in his community and was known to be a very compassionate man with a great sense of humour. Joe loved animals; especially horses. His hobbies included camping and hunting.
Besides his mother, Joe is survived by two sons, Jeremy, Jason, Ontario; three brothers, Eugene, Donald (Kathy), Ontario, Robbie (Kim), Glace Bay; six sisters, Sharon (Bobby), Donkin, Margaret (Al Radcliff), Fort St. John, Anna (Russell), Myrna (Derrick Gibson),Glace Bay, Gena (Robert Hibbs), Donkin, and Bernadette, Ontario. Joe is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Besides his father, Joe was predeceased by a brother, Brian.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, Jan. 26 from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. in the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. The funeral mass, officiated by Rev. Leo Boone is Thursday, 10 a.m. in St. Anne's Church followed by interment in the parish cemetery. Reception to be held in the church foyer.
As an expression of sympathy for Joe, donations in his memory may be made to a charity of one's choice or the SPCA.
