Passed peacefully away at the Palliative Care Unit, Western Memorial Regional Hospital, Corner Brook, NL, on Monday, January 24th, 2011, in his 82nd year. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his daughter, Loranda MacDonald (Geoff) and his grandson, Kyle (his dad, Frank & Denise); brother, Borden (Carol) and sister-in-law, Lorna Major (Sam) and many nieces & nephews. Murray was predeceased by his wife and best friend, Eileen (nee Boyd), parents: William & Irene Jewer, brother, Don & sister-in-law Mae; sister, Louise; sister-in-law, Nina & husband Llewellyn. For many years, Murray was a business owner in Deer Lake & together with his wife, Eileen; they owned the Murleen Snack Bar, Murleen Drive-in, Drapery & Textile and Jewer's Sewing Machine Repairs. Special thanks to everyone at Lohnes who provided him with the best possible care during his stay and especially Lenny Taylor from Lohnes who visited him in the hospital on several occasions. Also, heartfelt thanks to Dr. Smallwood who did everything possible during his stay in hospital and the nurses on 3MD and Palliative Care. The family will be receiving family and friends from Parsons Funeral Home & Chapel, 63 North Main Street, Deer Lake, NL on Thursday, January 27th, 2011, from the hours of 7-9 pm. Cremation has taken place. At Murray's request, there will be no memorial service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Palliative Care Unit, Western Memorial Regional Hospital, Corner Brook, NL.
