The death occurred peacefully, surrounded by family, at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, on Wednesday, January 26, 2011, of Carman Leslie Joseph Smith of Kensington, age 75 years
Born on February 12, 1935, in Murray Road, P.E.I., the only child of the late Roy and Regina (Roy-Cane) Smith. Predeceased by his first wife Rosella Teresa (Gallant) Smith, and her parents Oliver and Mary (Brown) Gallant. Survived by his second wife, Glenn (Sudsbury) Beairsto-Smith. Father of Carol Ann (Joe) Gallant, Barrie, ON; Ronald (Judy) Smith, Charlottetown; Rosemary (Mike) MacInnis, Lower Sackville, N.S.; Leslie Carman (Maddy) Smith, Cole Harbour, N.S. Stepfather of Stephen Roy (Barb) Gallant, Charlottetown; Joy Beairsto, Calgary, AB; Pam (Bob) MacDonald, Jacks Creek, Tennessee; Skip (Dawn) Beairsto, Summerside; and Greg (Tanya) Beairsto, Kensington. Also survived by numerous grandchildren, stepgrandchildren, great-grandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren.
Also survived by two half sisters from his mother's second marriage to Alfred (Fred) Cane, Adele (Dick) Walker, Georgetown, ON, and Elizabeth Cane, Laval, QC. Survived by sister-in-law, Joyce (Joseph) Clory, Charlottetown; sister-in-law, Sharyn (Phil) MacDougal, Stratford; and brother-in-law, David (Mary) Sudsbury, Arlington; and half brother-in-law Frank (Delta) Murphy, Charlottetown.
Predeceased by son Wayne (1993) and daughter Donna Marie in infancy; grandchildren, Natalie Dawn Coles and Colin James Smith; and the following brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Edna (Murphy) MacEwen, Sheila (Joseph) Bellefontaine, Helen (Joseph) Brazeau, Lillian (John) Eisner, Rae (Dianne) Murphy, Mary Dewar.
Resting at the Davison Funeral Home, Kensington, for visitation on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass Monday at the Church of the Holy Family, Kensington, at 10:30 a.m. Interment later in the Roman Catholic Cemetery Charlottetown.

Members of St. Mary's Holy Family Council 12465 Knights of Columbus, Kensington, will hold a prayer service at the funeral home Sunday afternoon at 1:45 p.m.
