Catherine ‘Kaye’ Flynn passed away peacefully July 5, 2009 at the Glace Bay Health Care Facility.
Born in Glace Bay, Kaye was the daughter of the late William and Ellen (Mullins) Flynn.
For 40 years Kaye worked in Pediatrics at St. Joseph’s Hospital and then at the Community Hospital. In her role as caregiver, she gave generously of her time and talents to bring comfort and healing to many children. We, in her family, will miss Kaye’s generosity, her support and her constant prayers.
Kaye was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Kaye is survived by her sister-in-law, Emily Flynn; nephews, Greg Currie, Earl Flynn, Darryl Flynn and Joey Flynn. Many nieces and nephews who have left Cape Breton also mourn Kaye’s passing.
Besides her parents, Kaye was predeceased by brothers, Ned, John, William, and sisters, Anne Sheppard and Mae Currie.
Visitation for Kaye will be held Wednesday, July 8, 6-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A funeral mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday, July 9 at St. John’s Church, Glace Bay, with Fr. Leo Boone officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
