Helen "Toots" White (MacLeod), 80, Truro, passed away at Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro, on January 27, 2011. Born in French River, Colchester County, she was the eldest daughter of the late John and Miriam (Tattrie) Spinney. She grew up in West Tatamagouche and also live in Tatamagouche, Bayhead, Halifax and Truro.
She is survived by daughters, Judy MacIntosh (Ron), Middle Sackville, and Joan MacLeod, Truro; grandchildren: John MacIntosh "The Golden Boy" (Adam), Hammonds Plains; Jay MacIntosh "The Favourite Grandson" (Lynn), Milton, Ont.; Christa Shillington "Nana's Girl" (Jeff), Hilden; and Tania; great-grandchildren: Connor, Spencer, Olivia, Rebecca and Corbin; sister, Nellie Semple (George), Tatamagouche; many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her first husband, G. Harold MacLeod, and second husband, Jim White. Helen was Past President of Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and numerous church committees. She spent the last three years of her life as a resident of Glen Haven Nursing Home, New Glasgow, and Wynn Park, Truro. Visitation will be 2-5 p.m. Saturday, January 29, 2011, in Coulter's Funeral Home, Tatamagouche (657-3288) with the funeral service 2 p.m. Sunday in Sharon United Church, Tatamagouche. The family wants to thank the nursing staff of 4S for their kindness and care of Mom. No flowers by request. Donations to a charity of choice would be appreciated.
