Elizabeth "Betty" Leger
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Elizabeth "Betty" Leger, 98, of the Manoir Notre-Dame and formerly of Steadman Street, Moncton. Betty passed away on Thursday January 27, 2011 after a brief illness under the excellent professional care of the Moncton Hospital Palliative Care Unit with her daughters by her side. Born on February 21, 1912 in Dover, NB, she was the daughter of the late Theophile and Annie (Petitpas) Gauvin. Betty worked for the T. Eaton Co. as a translator in the Copier Department in her earlier years and then stayed home and was a devoted wife and mother to her family that she adored. She is survived by two daughters: Josette "Carm" LeBlanc (late Ron) of Clearwater, FL, and Nora Krahl (Hans) of Shediac Bridge; four grandchildren: Lynn Bowman, Susan Stavracos (Ted), Kimberley Rayworth-Landry (Greg) and Jason Rayworth (Charline); six great-grandchildren: Miriam and Genevieve Landry; Jeremy and Matthew Rayworth, Alannah and Murray Stavracos. She was the last survivor of her immediate family. She was predeceased by her husband, Alcide (1999); her daughter, Annette (2009); a son-in-law, Murray Bowman; her sisters and brothers: Eva, Irene, Alice, Rosalie, Arthur, Edgar, Henri, Ernest and Albert.
The family will receive condolences at Frenette's Funeral Home, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900) where the funeral service will be held Tuesday February 1, 2011 at 11 a.m. Visiting hours will be Monday January 31, 2011 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral.
