NEW GLASGOW - Elsie Calder Campbell, age 92, passed away Monday, January 31, 2011 in the Valley View Villa, Riverton.
Born in New Glasgow, November 29, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Mark and Annie (Calder) Wayling.
Elsie was a graduate of the Maritime Business College, Halifax and in earlier years was employed with the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. She was a woman of great faith and was an active member of Trinity United Church, New Glasgow, having taught Sunday School, leader in CGIT, various youth groups and a Life Member of the United Church Women.
Elsie is survived by her daughter, Kathy (Ken) Partington, Stellarton; brother, Rev. John R. (Jeanne) Wayling, Halifax; grandchildren: Mark (Laurie) Partington, Pincourt, Quebec; Marsha (Brian) Fanning; Head of St. Margaret's Bay, NS; great-grandchildren: Amy and Clare Partington and Colin Fanning. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Elsie was predeceased by her husband, John Malcolm Campbell; and sister, Doris Griffin (Salem, New York).
Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation by request of the deceased. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, February 4, in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow with Rev. Jim Webber-Cook officiating. Interment to take place in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens at a later date.
Donations in memory of Elsie may be made to the Trinity United Church Mission Fund or a charity of choice.
