Frank John Gibbons, age 91, of Three Mile Plains, Hants County, passed away Thursday, January 27, 2011 in the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Born on September 29, 1919 in Saint John, New Brunswick. He was the son of the late Richard "John" S. and Catherine (Kinsella) Gibbons. Frank was a Veteran of the Second World War serving in the Royal Canadian Army in the "A" Troup, 104 Coast Battery Division. He was formerly employed with Boyd's Transfer in Windsor, Hants Wholesalers in Windsor, and with C.P. Express in Windsor as a truck driver. Frank also worked on the fast freight from Halifax to Digby. He was a very kind man who loved to take little treats like a coffee or chocolates to people who had a special place in his heart. Some people who were very special are Peggy at Dr. Amad's office, Heather at Home Hardware, Jackie Hood at the Scotia Bank. Other long time friends who he looked forward to seeing were Gerald Shearer, Bruce Morrison and Raymond ( Ben ) Swinamer, Brian Macumber and of course all the boys that gather at Home Hardware every day. These are just a few. Surviving are daughters, Diane Morden, Windsor; Faye (Abraham) Sweeney, Brooklyn, Hants County; Wanda Hall, New Minas; son, Larry (Lindy Smith), Falmouth; grandchildren, Pat Boucher, Michelle Caldwell, Darren Taylor, Brenda Morden, Lisa Yeadon, Ron Sweeney, Ryan Sweeney, Johnathon Sekulich, Angie Woods, Zach Gibbons, Caleb Gibbons, Hannah Gibbons, great-grandchildren, Leah, Carey, Devan, Alex, Nate, Tyler, Eric, Ellie and Lauren. Predeceased by his wife of 53 years the former, Winnifred Irene Benner; daughter, Judy Taylor; sisters, Helen Gibbons, Trudy Gibbons, and one in infancy. Cremation had taken place under the care of Lindsay's Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street, Windsor. Visitation was held 1-4 p.m. Sunday, January 30, 2011 in Lindsay's Windsor Funeral Home. A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Monday, January 31, 2011 in Lindsay's Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Bill Gibson officiated. Interment will be in Maplewood Cemetery, Windsor at a later date. Frank's family would like to extend a special thank you to the nursing staff of Units 200 and 500 at the Hants Community Hospital. Special thanks to Doctors Mark Kazimiriski and Dr. Cathryn Smith; also thanks to Jeff Redden for supplying a special place for Frank and his friends to enjoy their morning coffee.
