Jennie Amelia Hiltz - 90 of Waterville, Kings County, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, in the QEII Health Sciences Centre, VG Site, Halifax on Saturday, January 22, 2011, after a short, but courageous battle with cancer. Born in Woodville, Kings County, Jennie was the daughter of the late Stanley and Jennie (Moody) Hale. She will be sadly missed by her daughters, Marguerite Lloyd (Dean), Rawdon; Joan Hiltz, Toronto and Janet Hiltz-Resk (Albert), Bedford; grandchildren, Karen Wile (Dean), Wayne Lloyd (Patty), Diana MacEachern (Scott), Cheryl Hiltz (Mike), Anna Iamundo, Claudia Skeet (Junior), Jason Hiltz (Bonnie) and Jesse Resk; also, several great-grandchildren; brothers, Douglas Hale, Laurie (Gwen) Hale, Dr. George Hale; sisters, Phyllis Porter (the late Philip), Marguerite Rolls (D), Eileen Forsythe (the late Grant); many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Earl Morris Hiltz; brothers, Clayton, Allison and Keith; sister, Marion, and darling great-grandson, Liam. Mention should also be made of her precious canine neighbourhood friend Shadow, whose loss never failed to bring a tear to her eye. Jennie was truly one of a kind. She will be forever remembered for her amazingly quick wit, her independence, and boundless energy; her love of laughter, family and friends. She gave countless hours over her lifetime to volunteering, one of her passions, which she continued well into her late 80's. She loved entertaining and being active, whether she was picking berries, gardening, holding yard sales or piling wood. She was an eternal optimist, known for her feisty spirit and speaking her mind; with Jennie present, you could rest assured there would never be a dull moment. She has left many warm, endearing memories for those left behind and thoughts of her will bring smiles to the faces of those who knew her for the rest of their lives. She will be forever missed. There was no visitation, by family request. The funeral service, followed by a reception, was held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 26, 2011 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Reverend Donald Rafuse officiated. A private family burial took place in the Berwick Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
