Robert (Bob) Kirbyson age 82 years of Shaunavon, Saskatchewan and formerly of Admiral, Saskatchewan passed away on Friday, January 28, 2011 at the Shaunavon Hospital and Care Centre. He was born in the Cadillac, Saskatchewan district on September 24, 1928. Bob moved to Admiral at the age of three years to the farm he would one day own. He received his education at Andersonville School. He worked off the farm for a short period and drove truck part time, but most of Bob's life was spent on the farm. He married Doreen Nelson on August 7, 1957 at Admiral. The community and the organizations that make up the community were an important part of Bob's life. Over the years, he sat on many boards; Co-op, Credit Union, Immanuel Lutheran Church Council, Local School Board, Admiral Grain Company, Saskatchewan Wheat Pool, Town and Country, Happy Hearts and many other volunteer activities. He loved singing and playing the guitar and was a member of the Admiral Gospel Singers and Ecumenical Choir. Bob faithfully attended Immanuel Lutheran Church where he was actively involved; ringing the bell, recording the weekly offering, cutting the grass in the summer and plowing snow in the winter and making sure the church was warm for Sunday services. Bob was happiest when he was surrounded by his family and friends. He was a generous and kind man. No matter what life threw at him, he approached it with a positive attitude, never complaining, just taking it as it came with the idea that it will get better. Bob was a man of few words, but when he spoke his words were precious gifts of wisdom, humor and love for his family. He is survived by his wife Doreen, three daughters Linda (Dennis) Hall of Swift Current, Gwen Jaques and partner Alton Gregory of Endeavour, Janice Schlemko and fiancé Leo Berube of Kindersley, one son Clinton (Delaine) of Admiral, nine grandchildren Stacy (George) Robison of Brampton, ON, Meagan Hall and fiancé Jon of Saskatoon, Adam Jaques and fiancé Kate of Laird, Saskatchewan, Kaely Jaques and Jeff of Regina, Kally Schlemko and friend Mike of Saskatoon, Kevin Schlemko of Shaunavon, Cody Berube of Saskatoon, Crystal Berube of Prince Albert and Logan Berube of Val Marie, four great grandchildren Liam of Saskatoon, Cassie of Brampton, Levi of Saskatoon and Makayla of Saskatoon, his sisters-in-law Christine Kirbyson of Red Deer, Eunice (Victor) Lalonde of Meyronne, SK, his brothers-in-law Lloyd (Irene) Nelson of Shaunavon, Roger (Hazel) Nelson of Candle Lake, SK and Leslie (Darlene) Nelson of Winnipeg as well as by numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Dorothy and Henry Kirbyson, his brothers Eldon (Anne) Kirbyson, Stanley (Norma) Kirbyson and Ernest Kirbyson and by one sister Florence (Ernest) Larson and by his parents-in-law Ruth and Lawrence Nelson.
