THORBURN – Allan Andrew MacDonald, 72 of Scotch Lane, Thorburn, died July 5, 2009 at his home.
Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Alex and Annie Jane (MacKay) MacDonald.
Allan was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Allan was a resident of Thorburn for the past 39 years where he was a member of St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church. Allan previously lived in Ontario where he was employed as a Diamond Driller for a number of years, later going on to work for Ontario Hydro from where he retired due to an industrial accident
He is survived by his wife, the former Bernice Boutilier, Thorburn; a daughter, Janice Langille, Wolfville; grandchildren: Jacqueline MacDonald, Calgary; Sarah Langille, Calgary; Barry Langille II, Toronto; Kate Langille, Halifax; a great-grandson, Sebastien MacDonald, Calgary; a special nephew, Bill MacDonald, Thunder Bay, Ontario; many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by brothers: Alex, William and Rod; sisters: Bessie, Margaret, Bertha and Marie; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Jennie and Henry Boutilier; and brothers-in-law: John, Lawrence and Errol.
Cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Friday from St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, Thorburn, with Father Colin MacKinnon officiating. Burial of ashes will take place in the parish cemetery.
