Lionel Nicholas

Nichols, Lionel - 83, Belmont, passed away on January 31, 2011 at Cedarstone Enhanced Care Facility, Truro. Born in Dartmouth, he was a son of the late John and Vera (Burberry) Nichols. Lionel worked for the Department of National Defense at Camp Debert for 31 years, retiring in 1982. He is survived by sons, Fred (Maureen), Ontario; Jerry (Judy), Belmont; Dwight (Sharon), Brookside; daughter-in-law, Margie; grandchildren, Jason, Kyle, Hayley, Quinn, Tabitha, Corey, Christopher, Scott and Jamie; great-grandchildren, Chandler, Ashton, Sidney, Neenna, Jina, Alyssa, Brenna Crowell, Gavin Crowell, Brody, Jared, RayLee and MacKenzie; former wife, Lillian; brother, Gordon, sisters, Cathleen, Joan and Valerie; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Raymond; brothers, James, Fred and Sidney; sisters, Muriel and Iris. Cremation has taken place. By Lionel's request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A graveside service will be held at a later date. The family would like to extend a sincere thank-you to Willow Lodge and Cedarstone, as well as Dr. Gary Curtis and Dr. Ryve Loshaj for their recent care. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the IWK Foundation, the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, or the Canadian Cancer Society.
