It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Ramona passed away peacefully at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, on Feb. 2, 2011, with her loving family by her side.
Born in New Waterford, she was the daughter of the late Tom and Catherine 'Cas' (Turnbull) Tighe.
Ramona was known to all by her kind heart and warm smile; she had a kind word for everyone. Ramona had a wonderful outlook on life and loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed spending her days with her husband listening to music and watching cooking shows. She also loved a good card game.
Ramona is survived by her husband, Frank; sons, Frankie (Sharon), Wendell (Bertha), Bobby (Andrea), Darrell (Stephanie); daughters, Francine (Earl), Debbie (Dave); grandchildren, Frankie, Jimmy, Kevin, Francis, James, Matthew, Bobby, Michael, Kyle, Kirk, Jalen, Jenny, Sue Ann, Emma; great-grandchildren, Jessie, Devon, Savanah, Zachary; sisters, Emily Fahey, Annie McNeil, Bunnie Pretty; brother, Wallace Tighe. Also survived by former daughter-in-law, Jean Fahey and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her son, Kevin Fahey, brothers, Joe Tighe, Dempsey Tighe, Clarence Tighe, Jackie Tighe and Mylie Tighe.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A funeral mass of celebration will be held on Monday, Feb. 7, 2011, at 2 p.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue, with Fr. Doug MacDonald officiating. A luncheon will follow at the Knights of Columbus Hall, Plummer Ave., New Waterford.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
