Henry John Carroll, of Ridgewood Veteran's Wing, passed away peacefully on Friday February 4, 2011. Born 1918 in Grand Falls, NB he was the son of the late John Henry and Anne (Bourgoin) Carroll. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his son Robert Carroll; daughter Patricia Ann Carroll; brother Gilbert Carroll; sisters Ida Ryan, Myrtle Smith, Marie Gagone, Jane Greenier, Gertrude Foote, Elsie St. Pierre, Mable Fournier, Madeline Petrie and Juliette Roy. Henry was a Veteran of WWII serving as a Sergeant for 5 ½ years with the Carelton York Regiment. He worked as a Construction Inspector for NB Tel for 37 years, retiring in 1982. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree and the Royal Canadian Legion # 58. He is survived by his loving wife Alma (Denton) Carroll of 68 years, son Kenneth Carroll (Sandra); daughters Ruth-Carroll (Tim Taylor) and Cynthia Ann (Gerry) Shields; four grandchildren Leanne, Erin, Kadelyn and Scott; six great grandchildren Matthew, Tamsyn, Benjamin, Elijah, Sawyer and Reece; several nieces and nephews.
By request there will be no visitations. Following cremation, a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Mark's Catholic Church on Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at 10 a.m., followed by a reception in the church hall. Interment will take place in Grand Falls, NB at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Henry made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society or to the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
