Harold Aubrey Ellis, 88, from Brookfield, slipped away peacefully at Wynn Park Villa on February 6, 2011. He is the son of the late Harris and Florence (Lockhart) Ellis of Whittenburg. He was a longtime employee of Snook's Save Easy in Truro both as a meat cutter and manager of the meat department. Following retirement, Harold followed June's passion in making reproduction Porcelain Dolls. He has been a member of the Brookfield Baptist Church for more the fifty years, acting as Deacon and Trustee. He had a passion for hockey always cheering for the Toronto Maple Leafs. He was a member of the Brookfield Men's Club and in 1999 received the Eagle Award along with his wife June. He served overseas in Europe with the 2nd Division, 3rd LAA from 1943-1946. He was predeceased by his wife June (Hilchie); his son, Harold Vaughan; brothers, Elmer, Percy and Maurice; and sisters Veta and Hazel. He is survived by daughters Evelyn (Harold) O'Brien, Elizabeth (Gordon) Thurber, Linda Freeman; sons Keith and Gary; eleven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren; brother, Frank (Lois) and sister-in-law, Helen. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Mattatall~Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. No visitation by family request. A graveside service will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or Cancer Society.
