The death of Gracie Iona Hicks of Sackville occurred at the Dr. Georges L Dumont Hospital, Moncton on Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2011, the day before her 82nd birthday. Born in Midgic, she was a daughter of the late Claude and Vera (Estabrooks) Wheaton. Gracie had been a homemaker all of her life. She will be sadly missed by her husband of 65 years, Carman Hicks of Sackville; two sons, Larry (Alphonsine) of Riverview and Victor (Donna) of Sackville; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren as well as one brother Del (Bea) Wheaton of Sackville and one sister Rhobena (Dale Hatfield) McFee of Port Greville, NS; sisters-in-law, Betty Wheaton of Midgic and Pauline Wheaton of Moncton. Besides her parents she was predeceased by one grandson Gregory; four brothers, Foster, Cyril, Cutter and Oakley; two sister, Leota Hicks and Delavine Chase.
Arrangements were entrusted into the care and supervision of Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge Street, Sackville (364-1300) from where visitation was held on Thursday, Feb. 3, 2011, from 7-9 p.m. and on Friday, Feb. 4, 2011, from 12 p.m. until the time of the funeral at 2 p.m. Pastor Hal Lowther officiated. Interment will be at the Sackville Cemetery in the spring.
