Margaret Winnifred Bannister, of Petitcodiac, passed away at The Moncton Hospital on Monday, February 7, 2011. Born in Upper Nelson, she was a daughter of the late John and Martina (MacIntosh) Gordon. She was a member of St. James United Church, Past President and a member of the St. James UCW, a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #41, the Legion Ladies Auxiliary, a founding member for S.P.O.T., and also a member of TOPS. She is survived by her daughters: Ellen Dunfield (Richard) of Petitcodiac and Gloria Akerley (Tim) of Fredericton; her sons: Lawrence (Colleen) of Goshen and Gordon (Diane) of Forest Glen; her grandchildren: Stacey (Mike), Deanna (Colin), Rick (Jill), Mike (Bridget), Doug (Michelle), Andrew (Janet), Janetlee (Bart), Erin (Lee), Stephanie (Aaron) and Ashley (Alex); 10 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Shirley Gordon of Upper Nelson; and many nieces and nephews. Margaret was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Clarence; son, Norman; sister, Elsie McKinley; and brothers, Arthur, Harry, Jack.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 9, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm in Armstrong's Funeral Home, Petitcodiac. The funeral service will be held Thursday, February 10, 2011 at 2 pm from St. James United Church, Petitcodiac with Rev. Bob Campbell officiating. Interment will be held at Maplewood Cemetery at a later date. Donations to S.P.O.T. or the memorial of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
