The death of Dorothy (Do) Ethel Brown of Riverview, N.B. and formerly of Amherst, N.S. occurred at Moncton City Hospital on February 8, 2011. Born in 1918, she was the eldest daughter of John and Lillie (Ward) Ehrhardt. Do lived most of her life in Amherst. During her working years, she was employed with various businesses in town. She retired from The Atlantic Provinces Resource Centre for the Hearing Impaired in 1979 after 18 years on staff. Do was a member of Christ Church, ACW, Golden Years Club as well as a member of the same bridge club for over 40 years. She was a volunteer for the VON serving on the Board as secretary for 15 years. Do moved to Royal Court in Riverview with her husband, Leighton, in 1996. Do enjoyed life at Royal Court. She helped organize the library, belonged to a knitting club, learned to use the computer and developed a keen interest in painting with water colours. She continued to play Bridge a couple of times a week. She was a parish member and an ACW member at St. John the Baptist Anglican Church in Riverview, N.B. Do is survived by daughters Pat Weatherbee (Allan) of Amherst and Dale Swallow (Roger) of Dartmouth; grandsons Ryan Weatherbee (Jessie), Cory Weatherbee (Christy); Adam Swallow and Jason Swallow; great grandchildren Molly, Jake and Linus; brothers Gerald Ehrhardt (Verna), Ralph (Bus) Ehrhardt (Inez); sister Muriel MacPhail; sisters-in-law Lorayne Thompson and Judy Ehrhardt, as well as several nieces and nephews. Do was predeceased by her husband Leighton; brother Jack Ehrhardt and sister Marjorie Ash as well as brothers-in-law Ken Thompson, Neil MacPhail and Carl Ash.
Visitation will be held at Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst on Friday, February 11, 2011 from 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Christ Church, Amherst on Saturday, February 12th. at 2 p.m. with Archdeacon Glenn Eason officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Amherst Branch of the VON, Moncton Branch of the Red Cross, Extra Mural (Moncton), or the charity of your choice.
