Helen B. Messer of McAdam passed away peacefully with her family by her side on February 8, 2011 at Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Born in 1925 at Tabusintac, NB, she was a daughter of the late Murdock and Bertha (Stewart) McLeod. Helen loved her home and was always there for her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Helen is survived by her husband of 60 years, Hayes A. Messer; six daughters, Marilyn Boon (Raye), McAdam, Gayle Messer (Kay Curtis), Harvey, Ella Mae McGillicuddy (Raymond), McAdam, Brenda Litttle (Michael), McAdam, Beverly Kantor (Robert), Harvey and Jane Messer-Pineo, McAdam; a son, Rev. Terrance Messer (Mary), McAdam; sixteen grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; a brother, Irving McLeod (Doreen), Windsor, On; a sister, Sarah Kordos (John), Cottom, ON; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Helen was predeceased by sisters Ruth Sherwood, Avis Coburn and brothers, Roy, Phillip and Warren McLeod.
Visiting hours will be held at St. Paul's United Church, 155 Saunders Road, McAdam, NB on Friday, February 11, 2011 from 1 p.m. until the hour of service at 2 p.m. with Rev. Bonnie Wynn and Rev. Ellen Bearisto officiating. Interment will be later at Rockland Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Joel Messer, Wayne Boon, Brent MacKay, Terry McGillicuddy, Bradley Kantor and Jay T. McGee.
