Tibbitts, Mary Beryl (Legere), passed away peacefully, Wednesday, February 9, 2011 in the Colchester Regional Hospital Truro, surrounded by those she held dear. Born on November 22, 1911 in Stewiacke, she was the daughter of the late Vetal and Carrie (Densmore) Legere. Mary was an active member of the Brunswick Street United Church. She was a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 26, Ladies Auxiliary and was well known for working at Bingo, Teen Hops, and banquets for over 40 years. For her dedication she was awarded the Meritorious Service Award with Palm Leaf. She was honored and very proud of this recognition. Mary loved to play cards and so enjoyed her nights with Phyllis, Helen and Laura. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family and is survived by daughter, Sheila (Terrance) Terry; granddaughters, Krista (Jason) Graham, Heather (John) DeVouge; great granddaughters, Olivia and Marin Graham. Along with her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Frederick “Ted” Tibbitts; sisters, Helen (Jack) Weaver, Roberta (Elmer) Ramsay, Evelyn (Walter) Marr, Edith (Bill) Densmore; brothers, Raymond and Linton; niece, Evelyn Frost; nephew, Bernard Weaver. In honor of Mary’s wishes there will be no visitation or funeral service. Interment will be held at a later date in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Stewiacke East. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street Truro.
