It is with heartfelt sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Matthew Keith Vardy McVicar at home on Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2011.
Matthew was a student at Glace Bay High School, an animal lover and an intense hockey player. ‘McVic’ was a great fan of his friends and a brother to all he knew.
Matthew is survived by his parents, Donnie and Vera McVicar; sister, Rebecca and brother/friend, Ryan; paternal grandmother, Margie McVicar; paternal grandfather, Don (Joan) McVicar; great-grandmother, Mary Murphy; aunts, Audrey (Rob), Lorraine (Shane) and Alice (Peter); uncles, Russell and Harvey (Trish). Also surviving and missing Matt are his cousins, Stacy, Tim, Kate, Kim, Peter, Kayla, Mason, Jonathan and Jacqueline; many great aunts and uncles; and his friends who are loved greatly but too numerous to mention.
He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Betty and Harvey Vardy.
Visitation in Curry’s Funeral Home, 775 Main St., Glace Bay, Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Rev. Vernon Reid officiating.
Donations in Matthews memory may be made to a charity of choice.
