ELFREIDA MEGINBIR

ELFREIDA MEGINBIR

Date de décès : 9 février 2011

Elfreida Pauline Meginbir (nee Geissler) left this earth on Wednesday, February 9, 2011. She is fondly remembered and sadly missed by her children, Jerry, Hedy Smith, Paul, Phyllis Young, and Lorne; her grandchildren Laura, Layton, Marla, Colin, Nicole, Chris, Alynn, and Kara; her great-grandchildren, Zach, Jeremy, Danielle, and Aidan; and her many nephews and nieces. She is predeceased by her husband Arnold, her granddaughter Angela, her parents, and her brothers and sisters. Freida was born on April 2, 1917. Hers was a life built upon the prairie farm experience. Her growing years were spent with her parents and brothers and sisters on the family homestead in the Mazenod area. On June 10, 1937 she married Arnold D. Meginbir. They farmed together, raised their family, and participated in community and church activities in Mazenod and Vantage for many years. Freida was dedicated to her family; hers was a quiet strength that was always present and could always be counted on. In addition to her devotion to her family, Freida possessed an ability to make things grow. This included her vegetable and flower gardens, and her devotion to and success in nurturing any animals in her care. She created things of beauty including her many needle work projects and her never-ending stream of delicious meals. All of these were seasoned with a quick wit and a mischievous sparkle in the eye. Retirement years included a move to Moose Jaw where – while Freida continued with her existing family interests – she met new friends and developed new areas of interest. The last few years of Freida’s life were spent at Providence Place in Moose Jaw. Thanks to the staff there as they helped her to create a true sense of home within the facility. A special thanks as well to Dr. H. Rininsland who has provided medical care and moral support over many years. The Funeral Service will be held at Central Lutheran Church, 27 Hochelaga St.W., on Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at 1:30 pm. Reverend Bob Langdon will officiate. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. For those so wishing, memorials to the Sask. Heath & Stroke Foundation, 279 3rd Ave. N., Saskatoon, S7K 2H8, would be appreciated. In living memory of Freida, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home. Please sign the memorial register at website: www.wjjonesandson.com (Obituaries).
