It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear mother, grandmother, and friend, Alice Guy, on Friday, Feb. 11, 2011, at the Northside Community Guest Home, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Burgeo, N.L., she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Julia (Grant) Lawrence.
Alice enjoyed being a resident of the Northside Guest Home, and participated in the many activities available to her. She was a member of St. Matthew Wesley United Church, and a lifetime member of the Naomi unit of the UCW. She also loved to quilt, crochet and play cards, and in her younger years enjoyed camping and going for her Sunday drives with family.
Alice was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She is survived by her four children, Jean (Ralph) Pearce of Halifax, Shirley Hamilton of California, Clinton (Donna) Guy of Ontario, Roland (Rosalind) Guy of North Sydney; her eight grandchildren, Raymond, Heather, Kenneth, Alan, Clinton, Janice, Laurie, Gregory; 14 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren; also by her sister-in-law, Loena Lawrence, Halifax; many nieces and nephews, as well as her special nieces, the Kinslow girls.
Alice was predeceased by her husband, Alexander Clinton Guy, son-in-law, Lloyd Hamilton, brothers, Jack, Ernest, sisters, Mary Jane Benoit, Sara Lawrence, Rose Kinslow and by her great-granddaughter, Kimber.
There will be no visitation by request. A memorial service will take place at a later date with burial in Lakeside cemetery, North Sydney.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Matthew Wesley United Church, North Sydney.
