1926 - 2011 - With great sadness, her family announces the death of Jean Craigmile Duncan LeBlanc of Moncton on February 12, 2011. Born in Newark, New Jersey on May 13, 1926 to the late James Duncan and Alexandrina Craigmile, Jean was raised in Aberdeen, Scotland. Jean was recognized as an expert knitter and needle worker and will be remembered through her teaching at St. Patrick’s Family Centre and as the owner/operator of Yarns and Things on St. George Street. Jean originally trained and worked as a practical nurse in New York City. Beloved wife of Raymond Gerard LeBlanc (St. Anselme Green Gables Restaurant and Cabins) for 55 years, loving mother of Suzanne of Ottawa, Kathleen Betts of Loughton, England, Raymond (Joane Caissie) of Dieppe and Christopher of Moncton, and cherished grandmother of Victoria, Rebecca, Duncan and Phillippa Betts of England. Predeceased by her brother James Duncan, Jean will be fondly remembered by his wife, Dorothy Duncan of Aberdeen, Scotland. Jean will be sadly missed by sisters-in-law Emma Normandin, Geraldine LeBlanc, Irene Morse and brother-in-law Leonard LeBlanc (Kay), many nieces and nephews as well as cousins in Scotland and the United States. Jean took great pride in the many friendships she developed over the years. Special thanks for the wonderful care Jean received at the Grass Home in Riverview. Honouring Jean’s wishes, there will be no visitation. Cremation will be followed by a private graveside service at Fairhaven Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations to the St. Bernard’s elevator fund, the Arthritis Society or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
