Anthony, Clyde Ashley — of Windsor, Hants County, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Jan. 30, 2011, at the age of 90, at the Dykeland Lodge, Windsor. Born on June 18, 1920, in Charleston, Queens County, Nova Scotia, he was the youngest son of the late Benjamin Hastings Anthony and Katherine May (Baker) Anthony. Dad served in the Canadian Navy and the Canadian Reserves before working at the Halifax Shipyards as a supervisor for many years. After retiring, Dad enjoyed travelling and in particular enjoyed vacationing near the ocean. Dad gave generously to people in need many times over the years and always gave anonymously. He had served in his church faithfully and had always had a firm belief in Father God. One of his favourite hobbies was buying, selling and repairing cars. Dad was very active all of his life and even after moving into the Dykeland Lodge (because of health reasons), he kept active, as much as possible, going to all the events held there and taking care of all of his own shopping, financial banking, et cetera. He was often seen driving his scooter down the middle of Gerrish Street heading towards the waterfront where he spent many hours — his love of the sea forever evident. Even though in pain, his last week before he died was spent like the rest of his life with a smile and a positive attitude. Clyde is survived by his daughters, Elaine (Ted) Hunt, Victoria, British Columbia; Deanna (Allan) Anthony, Winnipeg, Manitoba; Sherri Anthony, Springhill, Nova Scotia; Suzzanne (Jamie) Duncan, Lakeview, Nova Scotia; and his son, Gary (Peggy) Anthony, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. He is also survived by sisters, Belle Chambers and Murial Ward; as well as many grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Benjamin Hastings Anthony and Katherine May (Baker) Anthony, he was predeceased by his brothers, Carl, Hulbert, Roland, and Cyril Anthony; and sister, Ruth Bowman. His funeral service was 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 6, 2011, in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home Chapel, 194 King Street, Windsor, followed by a reception in the Lindsay Family Reception Centre, 184 King Street. Presider Wayne Morgan officiated. A private family interment was held at the Maplewood Cemetery, King Street, Windsor.
