FREDERICK LAVERNE BUTLER September 15, 1962 – February 7, 2011
Fred began his eternal life with Christ, for which he was well prepared, on Monday, February 7, 2011. Fred lived his life purposefully with the goal to encourage those he came in contact with. The way in which he faced his lengthy battle with cancer with hope and optimism was an inspiration. He lived life to the fullest and some of the many activities that he enjoyed were dirt biking, hockey, building projects and music. Fred will be remembered for his Christ-like qualities of selflessness, courage and love for people. Family was of utmost importance to Fred. He was a devoted husband to Shanon and an adoring father to Seth and Jasmin. He was an attentive son to Gordon and Clara Butler of Gull Lake, Saskatchewan, and brother to Marilyn (Frank) Laplante of Abbotsford, B.C., Steve (Vanessa) Butler of Estevan, Saskatchewan, and Laurelyn(John) Hoess of Melfort, Saskatchewan. He enjoyed being an uncle to Lisa, Danny, Zac, Allie, Benjamin, Matthew and Ryan. His zest for life touched all who knew him and he will be sorely missed. A funeral service to celebrate Fred’s life was held in Calgary, Alberta, on Friday, February 11. Internment was at Rocky View Garden of Peace, 243208 Garden Road, Calgary Alberta. In lieu of flowers, a trust fund has been set up for Fred’s children by four of his close lifelong friends. Donations may be made at the Innovation Credit Union in Gull Lake or Swift Current.
