Walter Reid

The death of Mr. Walter A. "Hawk" Reid occurred peacefully at his residence in West Saint John on February 15, 2011. after a lengthy illness. Born in Saint John on December 13, 1953, he was the the son of the late Freeman G. and Marie A. (Vautour) Reid. Walter had worked at the Pulp Mill, Moosehead, and the Recreation Dept. of the City of Saint John. He was a well respected referee and umpire, enjoyed fishing, and played many sports over the years. A very proud moment was the induction of the 1974 National Junior Champions Fredericton Condors in the NB Baseball Hall of Fame for Walter and his team mates. Walter is survived by one brother Stewart of Bridgewater, N.S.
Resting at Castle "Fallsview" Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John West (634-1701). Visiting on Sunday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Celebration of Walter's Life will take place on Monday at 10 a.m. from Fallsview Chapel. Interment in Loyalist Cemetery, Harding's Point in the spring.
