Reid, Mary Joan
It is with great sadness that the family of (Mary) Joan Reid (neé Berry), born in Moose Jaw, SK, announces her passing on February 14, at the age of 75, after a difficult battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease). Joan will be greatly missed and forever remembered by her daughter Diane Reid (Jamie Simpson), son Scott Reid (Nicole); Diane’s children: Matt, Nick, Andrew, and Emma Perri; Scott’s children: Alan (Kristen Raimundo), Korey (Heather Reid), and Jessica Reid; one sister Carol Sorensen (Jim) of Cold Lake, AB, one sister-in-law and brother-in-law Barb & Allan Sales of Calgary, AB, as well as 4 nieces and a nephew, numerous other relatives and many loving friends. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of the ALS Clinic, the Good Samaritan Millwoods, the General Hospital Palliative Care unit, and the ALS Society for their care and support during Joan’s illness.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2011, at 11:30 am at Howard and McBride Chapel of Chimes. Interment will take place later that afternoon at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, 16204 Fort Road, Edmonton. Donations in memory of Joan may be made to the ALS Society of Alberta.
