With precious memories in our hearts and minds, we the family of Anne (MacQueen) MacIsaac-Selleck, sadly announce her passing. Anne passed away peacefully at the Cove Guest Home on Sunday, Feb. 20, 2011, with her loving family at her side.
Born in Donkin, Nov. 2, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Dolena (Smith) MacQueen.
Anne was a member of St. Luke’s United Church in Donkin, where she was strongly involved with the United Church Women, teaching Sunday school and various church youth groups.
She was Past Nobel Grand of Queen Victoria Rebekah Lodge #63, Donkin. Anne’s greatest pleasure was cooking and baking for family and friends.
Anne will be sadly missed by her daughter, Norma (Al) Aucoin, Sydney; she was a loving and caring grandmother to her granddaughter, Belinda (Stuart) Ferguson, Bedford, N.S., and grandson, Brian (Carrie) Hedd, Moncton, N.B.; also great-grandchildren, Paige, Marissa and Marley; brother, Charles MacQueen, Glace Bay; sister, Catherine Jenkins, Dartmouth, N.S.; sisters-in-law, Tillie MacQueen, Donkin, and Genny Rountree, Hamilton, Ont.; many nieces, nephews; and close family friend, Owen Hedd, Reserve Mines. Anne’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren added so much happiness to her life and her sense of humour and wit remained with her to the end.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, John MacIsaac, second husband, James Selleck, siblings, Neil MacQueen, Fraser MacQueen, Hugh MacQueen, Rachael MacRury, Margaret O’Loughlin and Barbara Weston.
In honoring Anne’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Tuesday, Feb. 22, from 1-2 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A funeral service will be celebrated immediately following the visitation at 2 p.m. in the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Thomas Whent officiating. A luncheon will follow, all are welcome. Interment will be at Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, Sydney Hwy.
At this time we would like to give thanks to the entire staff of the Cove Guest Home for the professional care and concern that was always given to Anne and especially for the numerous times you smiled in response to her ‘wink’ during her seven years as a resident.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Anne’s memory may be made to St. Luke’s United Church, Donkin, the Cove Guest Home or a charity of one’s choice.
