Bingley-George, “Doreen” (Corkum) – 79, Truro, passed away Sunday, February 20, 2011 in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born in Port Bickerton, she was the daughter of the late Vernon and Doris (Kaiser) Corkum. She was an avid bingo and dart player who loved quilting and knitting. She was a member of St. John’s Anglican Church, Truro. Doreen was in her element when she was cooking and baking for a crowd. She loved her family and her grandchildren. She was always knitting mittens and hats to give to various programs in the community and also for her friends. She is survived by the love of her life, Barry George; daughters, Bernice Pye, Fisherman’s Harbour, Chantel (Chris) Cameron, Grande Prairie, AB; sons, Vernon (Arlene), Martin (Rose), both of Fisherman’s Harbour, Bruce (Carolyn), Rollie (Diane), both of Port Bickerton, Francis (Loretta), Grande Prairie, AB, Wilkie, Stellarton; step-sons, Jason (Crystle) George, Yarmouth, Gordon (Dale), Ontario, Al (Allison), Debert, Barret, Fisherman’s Harbour; sister, Connie (Clem) Renauld, Oshawa, ON; 16 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Doreen was predeceased by her first husband, Carl Bingley and two sisters in infancy. Visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, February 23 with a memorial service at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 24, both in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro, Rev. Lori Ramsey officiating with interment at a later date in Fisherman’s Harbour, Guysborough County. Donations may be made to a charity of choice.
