Leckie, Ashley Elizabeth — age 17, of Windsor, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011, at the Q.E. II Halifax Infirmary Site, Halifax. Born on Feb. 3, 1994, in Windsor, Hants County, Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of Andrew and Kim (Hopkins) Leckie of Windsor. Ashley was a Grade 11 student at Avon View High School, Windsor. She enjoyed dancing and had taken ballet and jazz lessons. She also loved reading and all different kinds of music. Her aspirations were to go to Dalhousie University and study for a Bachelor of Nursing degree. She loved all her family, friends and her cats. Besides her parents, Andrew and Kim; she is survived by brother, Alex Leckie, Halifax; maternal grandparents, Robert and Jean (Stuart) Hopkins, Barrington; uncle, Stewart (Deidra) Leckie, Gainsville, Georgia, USA; aunt, Pam (Rob) Pollock, Vancouver, British Columbia; cousins, Kelly, Robyn and Morgan Pollock; David Leckie; and her godfather, Andrew Shaw. She was predeceased by her paternal grandparents, David and Elizabeth (Lewis) Leckie; and also by her special nanny, Caroline Garland. Cremation has taken place. Visitation was 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9, in Lindsay`s Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street, Windsor. Funeral service was 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 10, 2011, in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. David Curry and Rev. E. E. Hill officiated. Interment was in Maplewood Cemetery, King Street, Windsor, followed by a reception in the Lindsay Family Reception Centre, 184 King Street.
