It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear wife, mother, grandmother and sister, Iris Barnes, on Friday, July 10, 2009, at the Northside General Hospital.
Born in Sound Island, N.L., she was the daughter of the late Neil and Ethel (Stacey) Beck. Iris was a member of St. Matthew Wesley United Church, North Sydney.
She is survived by her husband, Frank; daughters, Sandra Barnes, Halifax, Debra Briand, North Sydney; her granddaughter, Catherine Briand; and her sister, Gwen Gilbert of Sound Island, N.L.
There will be no visitation by request. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney, with Rev. David Luker, officiating. Burial in Lakeside Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
