Today we celebrate the passing of a wonderful woman, wife, mother and friend Edna Marion Sadler of Sydney.
Marion passed away peacefully at home on Feb. 23, 2011.
Marion was born in Yarmouth Centre, Ont., in 1931, and was married to her true love Albert Alexander Sadler who she fondly referred to as Alberta. They worked together and provided a legacy of life and love for their two daughters Lynn and Kim. The family left Ontario and moved with much uncertainty to the Maritimes in 1972. She eventually came to love ‘God’s Country’ and never thought of leaving her home of Cape Breton. She was very involved in her church, Saint George’s, it was her strength and she made many life-long friends there. Marion was an avid gardener and spent many hours in her special garden nourishing her flowers.
Marion was predeceased by her husband, Ab, and a granddaughter, Rebecca.
She is remembered by her daughters, Lynn Robinson (David), Kim Sadler, Nancy Storms; a sister, Joy Gloin (Laurence); and brother, Rick Rogers (Barb). The joy of her life were her grandchildren, Nathan Vakaras (Kathleen Aucoin), Stephen Robinson (Amanda Curtis) and Tamara Robinson. She was also blessed with three great-grandchildren.
The family would like to express their appreciation for the VONs and caregivers who made Marion’s days enjoyable and peaceful. A special thanks to the Palliative Care Services and Beth Fraser Latham who gave the family the support they needed.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Friday, Feb. 25 from 6-7 p.m. with a memorial service to follow at 7 p.m. in the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home Chapel, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney. Interment to follow at a later date.
