MARSHALL - Doreen was born on July 31, 1936, in Tuberose, Saskatchewan, daughter of Fred & Dorothy Noble. She grew up in the White Bear district, attended Westslade School until her family moved to the Horsebutte district in 1948, where she attended Russelton and Twilight Schools. After high school, Doreen attended Canadian Vocational Training School in Saskatoon, graduating in 1955, as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She worked at the Swift Current Union Hospital on maternity ward, leaving there in 1956, to marry George Marshall from Kyle. George & Doreen farmed in the North Landing district on the family farm and Doreen helped with seeding and harvest and loved to work in the yard. When George passed away in 2003, Doreen bought a house in Kyle, but continued to spend summers at the farm, keeping up the yard and gardens. In 2010, when her youngest son came home to live on the farm, Doreen moved to Kyle permanently but stayed involved where she could be of help, especially making meals during harvest. Doreen enjoyed the outdoors, planning and hosting family gatherings, community events, volunteer work, fishing and crafts. She belonged to the Kyle Royal Purple for over forty years, sat on the United Church board, and was one of the founding members of the Kyle & District Museum in 1995. She remained on the board for over 15 years, chairman for six of those years, and worked on the history book committee in 2000. Doreen taught 4H during the years her children were involved. Family was the most important thing in her life! Doreen is predeceased by her father, Fred Noble, 1947; mother, Dorothy, 1982; step-father, Walter Degruchy, 1975; and by her husband, George, 2003. She is survived by children, Dana (Caron Moe), their children, Shaunna, Sheena, Bryce, Blair: Shannon (Wade Dyrland), their children, Christa, Codey (Kyndra), Devyn (Lora), Jesse (Natalie): Lonita (Bill Schuler), their children, Amanda (Jamie), Clinton, Tyler: Carolyn (Paul Draper), their children, Jodi, Kelly: Vaughn, his children, Karlie, Logan; by 13 great-grandchildren; and by her brother, John (Donna) Noble, their children, Todd (Tricia), Tara (Quentin) Ronalee. The Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at 2:00 pm from the Kyle United Church, Kyle, SK with Rev. Jeannine Cline officiating. The musician for the service was Darlene Smith with special music brought by the Kyle United Church Choir singing, “He Touched Me”. The eulogy was shared by Ruth Smith with Rev. Jeannine Cline reading the obituary. “In the Garden” and “Mansion Over the Hilltop” were sung by the congregation. The ushers in the church were Jay Sorensen and Gerald McCrie with the Kyle Royal Purple forming the Honor Guard. The Interment Service was held at the White Bear Cemetery, White Bear, SK with the following grandsons serving as pallbearers, Bryce Marshall, Logan Marshall, Codey Dyrland, Devyn Dyrland, Jesse Dyrland and Tyler Schuler. In memory of Doreen Marshall, donations made to the Kyle & District Museum would be appreciated by the family. Funeral arrangements were in care of Swift Current Funeral Home, Swift Current, SK.
