Ruth Graye of Plaster Rock passed away at the Tobique Valley Manor on February 24, 2011.
Born in Three Brooks on November 10, 1915, she was the daughter of the late J. Merton and Bertha (Milbury) Margison. Ruth leaves behind her daughters Bertha Sutthery of Plaster Rock, Minerva Wright (Lee) of Calgary, AB, M. Geraldine Kent (Bernie) of Guelph, ON, Juanita Stewart of Plaster Rock; her son Philip Graye (Rachel) of Lindsay, ON; 16 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, eight great great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Wilfrid Graye; her sisters Velma Grundins (late John), Kathleen Wentzell (late Vinnie); her brothers John Margison (late Grace), Maynard Margison (late Hazel), Clayton Margison (Ruth), Preston Margison (Naida); her grandson Andrew Graye; sons-in-law Perley Tompkins, A. Gilbert Simpson, Howard Murphy, Albert Sutthery, and James Stewart. Ruth was a lifelong resident of Plaster Rock. She was well known on the Tobique as an excellent seamstress. She fixed many zippers, patched many pairs of jeans, and hemmed many pairs of pants in her life for only 50 cents a pair. She was a member of the local Bridge Club, the Tobique Seniors Club, the Plaster Rock Curling Club, and was a lifelong member of St. Andrew's United Church in Plaster Rock. She was very involved in community affairs, such as the local hospital and organizing "Blood Donor Clinics" for the Red Cross. She enjoyed many pastimes, among them playing bridge and solving crossword puzzles.
In accordance with the family's wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service at this time. A memorial service will be held later this summer. Interment will be in Three Brooks Cemetery. For those who wish, donations to the Tobique Valley Manor, St. Andrew's United Church, or to a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brunswick Funeral Home, Perth-Andover and Paster Rock.
