Betty Seib
Date de naissance : 24 septembre 1945
Date de décès : 18 février 2011
Betty Seib (nee Fehr) passed away on Friday, February 18, 2011, at the age of 65. She was born on September 24, 1945, on the family farm west of Wymark, SK, the fifth child of Sarah & John O. Fehr. Betty attended elementary school in Montford, SK, taking Grade 9 and 10 at Wymark, and shortly afterwards moved to Swift Current to find her way as an independent young adult. Harvey Seib spotted the love of his life while driving through Wymark, and he and Betty were married in 1963. During her 48 year marriage, she acted as hired hand, chef, chauffeur, comedian, nurse, interior decorator, and guidance counselor. Despite this daunting workload, she still managed to keep her home open for faspa at any time of the day. She was well known for her hospitality and generosity with all of the gifts God gave her. Her love for family wasn’t just internal. It was also evident in her willingness to help and the way she had special times and inside jokes with her grandchildren. In recent y ears she developed a love of traveling with family. She had a dream come true when she was able to take a Hawaiian vacation with her children and grandchildren, all 20 of them. Multiple trips with brothers and sisters also yielded hilarious memories, many that have been shared, and many more that will never be told. Her children describe her as their inspiration to become strong people, good spouses, good parents, and good cooks. Her siblings describe her as “a firecracker”, hard working, fun-loving, caring, an encourager, hospitable, giving, and a best friend. It was her strong faith in Jesus, love of life, and love for her family that gave her the courage to face the ultimate test when she was diagnosed with cancer. Through several surgeries and chemotherapy treatments, she refused to let it destroy her spirit. Her desire was that through all this, God would be glorified. Even when she received the news that her cancer had returned, she accepted what was ahead and faced it with grace and dignity. She was encouraged by her family and friends, while being an encouragement to them at the same time. Betty will be missed deeply by her family: her husband, Harvey; son, Alden (Lisa) Seib, Herbert, SK, their children, Brady, Sydney, and Jaycee; daughters, Tracey (Kevin) Jones, Swift Current, SK, their children, Dakotah and Jordyn: Sara Lee (Curtis) Willems, Airdrie, AB, their children, Tyson and Teagan: Melissa (Doug) Martens, Wymark, SK, their children, Kobe, Montana, and Ty; siblings, Helen (Peter) Neudorf, Sue (Larry) Grose, John (Betty) Fehr, Marion (Harvey) Engel, Peter (Norma) Fehr; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Appleby and Linda Fehr; many nieces and nephews and a large extended family.
