Ruth Logan
The death of Ruth Marie (McQuoid) Logan, of Saint John, NB, wife of the late Norman Logan occurred on Thursday, February 24, 2011, at the Saint John Residential Hospice, with her family at her side. Born June 13, 1932 in St. Andrews, NB, she was a daughter of the late Hope and Helen J. (Swinton) McQuoid. Besides her parents and husband Norman, Ruth was predeceased by sisters Barbara and Constance. She is survived by her only daughter Leah Jane Logan of Saint John, NB, brother Bill McQuoid of Fredericton, sister Hope Green of Fredericton, two grandchildren Dale and Amanda, several cousins, nieces, nephews and special life longtime friends. Ruth was born and brought up in St. Andrews, NB, where she attended local schools and went on to Vocational High School in Saint John, NB, where she finished her Hairdressing in 1952, and went on to own and operated Beauty Salons in St. Andrews and one on Prince Street West, Saint John, NB. Ruth was the Head Waitress for the White House Lodge, and a Cashier for the Co-Op Westside Store until her retirement. She organized and ran the Ladies Dart Shoot for 25 years, 40 plus years of the City and District Dart League, as well the Big Player with Friday Night Cards. She was a Member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Ladies Auxiliary and associate Member of Branch #69.
No Visiting at the funeral home by family request. Memorial service will be held from Hillcrest Baptist Church on Saturday, February 26, 2011 at 1:00 pm. A Tribute to a Veteran Service will be held at 12:30 pm. In lieu of flowers donations to the Animal Rescue League, Hospice of Greater Saint John or donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
