With precious memories in our hearts, we, the family of Margaret Sarah Mizzi, sadly announce her passing at the Cove Guest Home on Thursday, February 24, 2011 with loving family by her side.
Born in Sydney on November 8, 1911, she was the daughter of the late Salvo and Francis (Lyons) Mizzi.
Margaret was a member of Sacred Heart Parish in Sydney and was very devoted to her religion. She is survived by sisters Mary Ferguson, Sydney; Cecilia Marusiak, Sydney; Eileen Baldwin, Sydney; brothers George Mizzi, Sydney and Edward Mizzi (Annie), Hamilton, Ontario. Besides her parents, she is predeceased by sisters Melita Newton, Ontario; Ester Meloche, Ontario and Rita Coleman, Sydney. Margaret was a loving aunt and will be sadly missed by all of her nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. She will be especially missed by her caregivers who were nieces Ann Dares and Faith Currie and nephew Keith Baldwin.
Margaret worked at Gallies Shoe & Clothing Store for twenty-five years in Sydney. She lived the past thirteen years as a resident of the Cove Guest Home where she enjoyed the company of the staff and fellow residents. She formerly resided at 312 Esplanade, Sydney.
Visitation will be held Sunday, Feb. 27 and Monday Feb. 28, both days from 2-4 p.m. & 7-9 p.m. at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel in Sydney. A funeral service will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 1, 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Parish, George St., Sydney with Fr. Anthony O’Connor officiating. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery, Howie Centre immediately following the service.
The family would like to give thanks to the entire staff of the Cove Guest Home for the professional care and concern that was always given to Margaret.
